An end-to-end redesign of a mobile banking app serving 10,000+ users — from heuristic research through a shippable design system.
Everyday banking tasks — checking a balance, moving money, finding a statement — had accumulated friction over years of feature bolt-ons. The brief: rebuild the experience around how people actually use the app, without breaking what already worked.
I led the redesign end to end: research, flow mapping, wireframes through high-fidelity UI, and the component system that now carries it forward.
Ran sessions with 8 participants, then synthesized findings into 3 personas covering distinct banking habits and trust levels.
Heuristic evaluation and journey mapping across 5 core user flows surfaced exactly where and why people got stuck.
Iterated from low-fidelity structure to production-ready UI, cutting task steps by roughly a third along the way.
Presented decisions to stakeholders, tying each design choice back to business KPIs and user goals.
Every screen was rebuilt on a token-based component library — consistent spacing, states, and interaction patterns other designers and engineers could pick up without guessing.
